Kevin Hansen heads to home of RX Lites with championship lead

2015-09-28

Rallycross first visited Turkey last season, where a fantastic new circuit at the former Formula One venue greeted the teams and drivers. Competing in Istanbul in his first year in the category last term, Hansen finished second driving for the Red Bull Peugeot Hansen Junior Team. The Swede is looking forward to returning this weekend.

“The track in Turkey is very different from many other tracks on the calendar, it’s very beautiful and the gravel is amazing. The whole combination of the facilities and the track is perfect for RX, so I’m really looking forward to going back there this weekend, this time with the championship lead,” said Hansen. We had a rough start with a blown engine in practice last year, so we missed the first heat. But we came back strong and discovered the key with the setup that changed everything for us this year. We’re going back with good memories.”

The tubular-chassis’ of the RX Lites cars are built in Istanbul, where Hansen’s Peugeot 208 Lites was first created. It’s nice to visit the home of the Supercar Lites! This is a big event for the category and it would be nice to fight for victory at our baby’s home. We want to be on the pace directly this weekend, and find the same feeling in the car as last year. Thanks to my amazing engineer Graham [Rodemark] and my dad [Kenneth Hansen], we know what the 208 Lites needs in terms of setup to work really well,” explained the 2014 RallyX Nordic Lites Champion.

Hansen maintained his championship advantage of nine points at the previous round in Barcelona and hopes for more of the same at Istanbul. We’re into the final two races of the year. For sure it would be nice to have more than a nine point gap going into Italy, but we’re just going focus on enjoying ourselves and try to increase it if that’s possible.”
